Barcelona dominated the first half of this matchup, with Real Madrid looking out of sorts and struggling to create chances. The home side took an early minute when Gündogan jumped on a loose ball in the box that David Alaba failed to clear and slotted home.

Barcelona looked dangerous on the counterattack throughout the first half, with the dynamism of Joao Felix and Fermín López causing problems for Real’s defense. López came close to doubling Barça’s lead before halftime, hitting the post. Vinicius and Rodrygo in particular struggled to create anything of note in the first half. Both struggled to press Barcelona, repeatedly taking up bad angles. Vinicius got distracted trying to draw fouls and ended up getting into an argument with Xavi in the first half, and consistently gave the ball away. Federico Valverde found himself pinned back by Alejandro Balde.

Ferland Mendy’s injury saw Eduardo Camavinga come in at left back soon after half time. Sensing his team needed more fresh energy, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti made a double substitution, bringing on Luka Modrić and Joselu for Toni Kroos and the misfiring Rodrygo. The changes sparked Real into life, with Camavinga in particular changing the game.

Barcelona boss Xavi responded by bringing on Oriol Romeu and Robert Lewandowski, but the substitutions disrupted his team’s rhythm. Barcelona looked less threatening with Romeu struggling to escape the press and Lewandowski offering little in transition offense.

As the game wore on, Real Madrid began piling on pressure but struggled to create any serious chances. The equalizer finally came in the 68th minute when Jude Bellingham fired a thunderous long-range shot into the top corner, giving Marc-André ter Stegen no chance.

The momentum completely shifted in Real’s favor and they pushed relentlessly for a winner. In the first minute of stoppage time, Carvajal’s cross took a deflection off Modric and landed perfectly for Jude Bellingham to slot in the winner.

It was a dramatic comeback from Real Madrid, who were lackluster in the first half but showed resolve to turn the game around in the second period. Bellingham and Camavinga were instrumental figures in the fightback. This late smash-and-grab win puts Real Madrid top of La Liga heading into November.
