We have often heard the term “new signing” being used for current club players ahead of a season where they were expected to write a good redemption story.

But, we have often seen that “new signing” not fulfill it’s potential and upset the fanbase.

This season, it seems like the new signing at Real Madrid is Dani Carvajal, the 31-year old Spanish Right-Back who started the season like a young version of himself.

Wearing the captain armband in most of the matches this season, Dani Carvajal seems reborn – with better and better performances with each match.

Dani played full 90 minutes in the first 3 matches and 75 minutes vs Getafe, while also playing full 180 minutes in Spain’s two September matches.

What has been clearly visible in these games, is a fit and strong Carvajal – a player who is not afraid to go into duels, makes the right passes under high pressure, and due to Ancelotti’s new system, a player much more active in attack.

In 6 matches this season with club and country, Dani Carvajal has assisted 3 times, been very stable defensively and as he’s shown many times through his career – Dani is a player who can change a game.

His passing this season has been top notch, with 89% accuracy of all his passes this season, and while we are at stats – Dani has won more than 80% of his duels, a percentage much higher than last season.

As Carvajal himself said, it looks like the RB has managed to find a way and leave injuries aside.

Carvajal missed 22 games in 2018/19, 53 matches in 2020/21 and 16 matches in 2021/22, missed only five matches last season – two due to rest and has shown an amazing physical form this season.

Dani Carvajal’s form has been amazing and a pleasant surprise for Ancelotti and Real Madrid, a true “new signing” to a team that is short in the RB position.
