What’s the ceiling of this team?

Approaching the new season, there were a lot of negative feelings surrounding Real Madrid – especially considering the circumstances at the club, where Karim Benzema left early in the summer and wasn’t replaced, with Joselu being the only striker.

Having only four attackers gave little to no hope to Real Madrid fans, but little did we know that 6 months into the season – Real Madrid would be having one of the best starts to the season in the club’s history.

Adding to the worries of Carlo Ancelotti, were the injuries of Courtois & Militao just as the season was starting, losing them practically for the whole season. Alongside them, a lot of injuries happened & one of the signings, Arda Güler missed everything until now due to reoccurring injury problems.

All the things, had people worrying and not many would expect Real Madrid to have the kind of spectacular season they are having so far.

Only 1 defeat after 28 games, and 21 games in a row unbeaten as Ancelotti’s side keeps getting better every match, to the point they have scored 5 past Atletico Madrid and 4 past Barcelona in the last two games. Vini Jr. missed most of the season & Real Madrid were forced to choose between only three options – Rodrygo, Brahim & Joselu.

Injuries that kept players like Camavinga and Tchouameni for more than 6 weeks out, forced Real Madrid to have limited choices in midfield too – as David Alaba became the third Real Madrid player to pick up an ACL injury this season, shortening Real Madrid’s CB options only to Nacho and Rüdiger.

Despite all of this, Real Madrid have scored 68 goals in 28 games, have conceded only 23 goals, have kept 12 clean sheets, have won 24 games, including a trophy.

What remains to ask, is what’s this team ceiling?

A season that started with negative expectations, now has everyone around the world claiming Real Madrid as one of the favourites to lift UEFA Champions League this season, while after Girona’s draw against Almeria – Real now have the chance to lead La Liga alone, and seeing the performances of the rivals, La Liga seems an easy walk for Real Madrid.

On Thursday, Real Madrid travels to “Civitas Metropolitano” to face Atletico Madrid in a one-legged RO16 of Copa Del Rey, and a win would mean a massive step forward to winning all the trophies.

There is much left for this season to be completed, and surely somewhere down the road the 2nd defeat will come, but this team – at least with what they have shown until now, have the ability to contend for every trophy, being favourite in almost all of the competitions.

The team is getting back together, and hoping the injuries won’t be much of a problem anymore, Real Madrid have an amazing starting line-up, while also having a very decent bench.

At this point, it is definitely not out of pocket to say that Real Madrid can win every trophy this season – it might happen, it might not happen, but this team is absolutely capable of doing it. Taking it game by game, there’s few opponents that can cause serious problems to this Real Madrid team.

Considering most of the players in the starting XI are not yet 25, with the best version of Arda Güler yet to come, a super talented Endrick joining in the summer, the future of Real Madrid seems otherworldly promising. What’s the ceiling of this team? Very high, at this point, not even predictable.
